Examples of bad charts, in particular ones that lie, was an assignment in the business intelligence class at UW. I found the below article very informative about the subject. - Dwayne

Fox News was forced to address yet another dishonest chart last week, which it aired to paint a misleading picture of President Obama's handling of the economy. Fox has a habit of displaying error-laden and deceptive graphics to reinforce conservative attacks on the Obama administration.

How Big Data Is Influencing Hiring

Google and Apple have been seen as leaders in People Analytics. Their "People Operations" department, a.k.a. human resources, has taken the evidence-based decision model and applied it to all aspects of employee hiring, training, evaluation, and retention. Google's approach is "All people decisions at Google are based on data and analytics." Initial results are positive but time will tell.

An interesting presentation and had a "the matrix" type of vibe to me. Although all the TED Talks on data visualization did this to one degree or another, this presentation really did make data collection seem organic.

A classic that has been profiled in many classes and presentations about data tracking over time. The world population over time section is compelling both from a data visualization and his presentation technique as he provides narrative while the data is in motion.
